Black pepper and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by retailers and stockists, amid low stock positions.
On encouraging advices from futures market also supported the rise in prices. Black pepper prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 28,000-28,200 per quintal on buying support from exporters.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 13,900-14,200 and Rs 16,100-16,200 per quintal respectively on favourable advices from Unhja in Gujarat.
Traders said fresh buying by stockists and rising exports demand mainly pushed up select spice prices on the wholesale kirana market here. They said fall in supplies from producing belts and a firming trend in spices at futures market too aided trading sentiments to improve.
