Jeera common and jeera best quality also edged higher by Rs 200 to finish at Rs 12,400-12,700 and Rs 13,700-14,200 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said sentiment turned better on rising domestic and exports demand and firming trend at futures market pushed up pepper and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

They said fall in supplies, as farmers held back their produce in anticipation of higher prices, too influenced the trading sentiment.
