Pepper, select copra decline on poor offtake

Black pepper prices eased at the spices market here today due to subdued demand from domestic as well as export markets.

Elsewhere, copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode also moved down on lower retail offtake.

Black pepper fell by Rs 5 per kilo to Rs 290/320 from its overnight closing level of Rs 295/325.

Copra office Alapuzha slipped by Rs 75 per quintal to Rs 6,925 from Thursday's close of Rs 7,000 and copra office Kozhikode looked down by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 6,800 as compared to Rs 6,825 previously.

While, rest all other spices closed stable in the absence of worthwhile buying activity.

Black pepper (per kg) 290/320 (295/325), ginger bleached (per kg) 175 (175), ginger unbleached (per kg) 205 (205), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,925 (7,000)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,800 (6,825), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,300 (9,300) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,900 (7,900)
