Pepper prices moved down by Rs 210 to Rs 28,540 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions amid weak export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, pepper for delivery in July declined by Rs 210, or 0.73% to Rs 28,540 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,292 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June shed Rs 186, or 0.64% to Rs 28,681 per quintal, in 11,133 lots.
Analysts said offloading of fresh positions by speculators on the back of a weak export demand mainly led to the fall in pepper futures prices.
