Pepper, turmeric fall on subdued demand

Black pepper and turmeric prices fell by Rs 200 per quintal each in the national capital today due to weak local and export demand at existing higher prices.

Black pepper fell by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 20,100-20,200 per quintal.

Turmeric prices also declined to Rs 15,600-18,400 against previous closing of Rs 15,800-18,600 per quintal.

Market analysts said sufficient stocks position following increased arrivals from producing belts mainly pulled down pepper and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 13,500-19,000, black pepper common 20,100-20,200 betelnut (kg) 86-107, cardamom brown- Jhundiwali (kg) 740-750 and cardamom brown- Kanchicut (kg) 825-975

 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 925-1,040, cardamom (colour robin) 1,020-1,035, cardamom bold 1,060-1,080, cardamom extra (bold) 1,220-1,240 and cloves (kg) 285-350
