Pepper, turmeric falls on sluggish demand

Black pepper and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal each in the National Capital today owing to sluggish demand against adequate stocks. Lower advices from producing belts also put pressure on the prices.

Black pepper and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 16,300-16,400 and Rs 16,800-18,500 per quintal respectively.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by local parties and stockists mainly pulled down black pepper and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 10,500-15,500, black pepper common 16,300-16,400, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 850-900 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 1000-1050.

 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1250-1,350, cardamom (colour robin) 1,450-1,550, cardamom bold 1,450-1,570, cardamom extra (bold) 1,550-1,700 and cloves (kg) 280-340. Chirounji (new) (kg) Rs 285-330 Dry mango( raipur) Rs 6,000-8,000
