Pepper, turmeric recovers on stockists buying

Black pepper and turmeric prices recovered by Rs 100 per quintal on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Black pepper prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 23,400-23,500 per quintal.

Turmeric prices also traded higher at Rs 18,100-20,100 against previous closing of Rs 18,000-20,000 per quintal.

Traders said sentiments turned better following rising domestic and export demand and firming trend at futures market.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 12,500-19,000, black pepper common 23,400-23,500 betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,100-1,110 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,200-1,350.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,300--1,350, cardamom (colour robin) 1,370-1,380, cardamom bold 1,390-1,400, cardamom extra (bold) 1,490-1,500 and cloves (kg) 340-400.
