Black pepper and turmeric prices rose up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters. Black pepper prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 20,500 -20,700 per quintal.

Turmeric prices also traded higher at Rs 15,800-19,100, against the previous closing of Rs 15,600-18,800 per quintal.

Traders said sentiment turned better on rising domestic and exports demand and a firming trend at futures market, pushed up pepper and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

They said fall in supplies, as farmers held back their produce in anticipation of higher prices, too influenced the trading sentiment.
