Pepper weakens on subdued demand

Dry mango prices declined by Rs 100 per quintal in the kirana market at national capital today following fresh supply amid reduced offtake.

Market analysts said increased arrivals along with slackness in demand mainly pulled down dry mango prices. 

Dry mango raipur prices moved down from Rs 9,500-11,500 to Rs 9,400-10,400 per quintal.   

However, other varieties in kirana market maintained their last levels on sporadic demand.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Ajwain 17,500-23,000, black pepper common 27,800-27,900, betelnut (kg) 110-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 920-980, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,050-1,150

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-700, cardamom (colour robin) 640-700, cardamom bold 680-710, cardamom extra (bold) 920-1,000 and cloves (kg) 580-625
