Policy Impact: Sensex up 173pts; HDFC, L&T lead

The Sensex is now up 173 points at 15,434.

HDFC and Larsen & Toubro have zoomed 3.5% each to Rs 1,977 and Rs 2,533, respectively.

ACC, ITC and Ranbaxy have soared 3% each to Rs 1,055, Rs 173 and Rs 388, respectively.

BHEL has surged 2.5% to Rs 1,686. Reliance Communications and Hindalco have moved up 2.3% each to Rs 553 and Rs 170, respectively.

Bajaj Auto has rallied over 2% to Rs 2,342.

Mahindra & Mahindra has plunged 4% to Rs 722. Hindustan Unilever and Maruti have slipped over 1% each to Rs 206 and Rs 838, respectively.

Out of 2,578 stocks traded so far, 1,585 have advanced, 927 have declined and 66 are unchanged.
