<b>Policy Impact:</b> Sensex up 56pts; auto, bank slip

The Sensex slipped to a low of 15,225 - down 226 points from the day's high of 15,451 - after the Central Bank announced a 50bps hike in CRR.

The index has rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 56 points at 15,316.

ITC has surged 2.7% to Rs 172. Ranbaxy has gained 1.8% at Rs 384.

BHEL and Larsen & Toubro have rallied 1.8% each to Rs 1,674 and Rs 2,489, respectively.

ACC and Hindalco have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 1,039 and Rs 169, respectively.

HDFC, Bajaj Auto and Reliance Energy are up 1% each at Rs 1,930, Rs 2,316 and Rs 788, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 3.3% to Rs 728. Tata Motors has slipped 2.4% to Rs 690, and Maruti has dropped 2% to Rs 830.

Hindustan Unilever has declined 1.5% to Rs 206. SBI, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Grasim are down 1% each to Rs 1,559, Rs 1,965, Rs 914, Rs 883 and Rs 2,918, respectively.
