Potato prices fell by 2.64 per cent to Rs 859.70 per quintal in futures market today as speculators offloaded their positions due to rise in arrivals from producing belts against subdued demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato prices for delivery in March dipped by Rs 22.70, or 2.64 per cent, to Rs 859.70 per quintal in business turnover of 777 lots.

Potato for delivery in April traded lower by the same margin to Rs 861.10 per quintal in 441 lots.

Market analysts said increased arrivals from producing regions, subdued demand in the spot market, mainly kept pressure on potato futures prices.
