Potato prices weakened by 0.11% to Rs 884 per quintal in futures trade today as traders offloaded positions on the back of weak demand in the domestic market amid adequate supplies from producing belts.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March weakened by Re 1, or 0.11%, to Rs 884 per quintal in business turnover of 18 lots.
Likewise, potato for delivery in April shed 60 paise, or 0.07%, to Rs 863 per quintal in a single lot.
Analysts said speculators offloaded their holdings on the back of weak demand in the spot market against adequate supplies from producing region which helped potato prices to weaken at futures trade.
