Potato prices moved moved down by Rs 3.10 to Rs 1,175 per quintal today as speculators trimmed their positions amid higher supplies in the spot market from producing regions against subdued demand.

At the MCX, the August contract declined by Rs 3.10, or 0.26%, to Rs 1,175 per quintal in business turnover of five lots.

The July contract shed Rs 1.40, or 0.13%, to Rs 1,113 per quintal in 11 lots.

Market analysts said fall in potato prices was mostly due to higher supplies from producing belts in the physical market against lower demand.
