Potato down 0.7% on reduced offtake

Commodity traded lower by 0.67%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Potato futures prices declined 0.70% to Rs 1,188.10 per quintal today as speculators offloaded their positions amid adequate stocks in the physical markets on increased arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for April delivery fell by Rs 8.40, or 0.70%, to Rs 1,188.10 per quintal, with a business volume of 37 lots.

For delivery in March, potato traded lower by Rs 8, or 0.67%, to Rs 1,176 per quintal, with a trade volume of 31 lots.

Marketmen said fall in potato prices was mostly owing to offloading of positions by speculators amid subdued demand in the spot market amid increased supplies in the physical market.
