Potato down 0.9% on sluggish demand

The potato for delivery in August also traded lower by 0.80%

Potato prices fell by 0.97% to Rs 684 per quintal in futures trade today as traders offloaded their positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate supplies from producing region.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in far-month September fell by Rs 6.70, or 0.97%, to Rs 684 per quintal in business turnover of 32 lots.

The potato for delivery in August also traded lower by Rs 5.90, or 0.80%, to Rs 727.90 per quintal in 82 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in potato futures to sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks availability.
