Potato down 1.85% on increased supplies

Potato prices fell by Rs 15.50 to Rs 821.50 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators offloaded their positions, triggered by increased supplies from producing region in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March lost Rs 15.50, or 1.85%, to Rs 821.50 per quintal in business turnover of 403 lots.

April potato shed Rs 8, or 0.89%, to Rs 889 per quintal in 170 lots.

Market analysts said speculators offloaded their positions, triggered by increased supplies from producing belts.
