Potato down 1% on subdued demand

Potato futures prices fell by Rs 5.20 to Rs 585.30 per quintal today, due to sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for April contract fell by Rs 5.20, or 0.88%, to Rs 585.30 per quintal, with a business volume of six lots.

The potato for delivery in March declined by Rs 3.30, or 0.53%, to Rs 616.50 per quintal in 40 lots.

Traders offloaded their holdings at existing higher levels tracking a decline in spot market on falling demand.
