Potato traded lower by Rs 2.40 or 0.49 per cent to Rs 482.90 per quintal in futures trade today on sluggish demand against increased arrivals in spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for June-month contract declined by Rs 2.40, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 482.90 per quintal, with an open interest of 632 lots.

The potato for July contract remained down by Rs 1.00 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 486.80 per quintal, with a business turnover of 1,535 lots.

Marketmen said increased supply in spot markets against sluggish demand helped potato prices to shed further ground at futures trade.
