Potato futures prices fell by Rs 23 to Rs 1,177 per quintal today, as speculators offloaded their positions amid supply pressure in the physical markets.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, the May contract fell by Rs 23, or 1.92%, to Rs 1,177 per quintal in business turnover of 455 lots.

The April contract also declined by Rs 14.60, or 1.42%, to Rs 1,012.40 per quintal in 335 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in potato prices at futures trade was mostly due to adequate stocks in the physical markets following increased arrivals from producing regions.
