Potato futures prices declined for the sixth day in a row, losing Rs 12 to Rs 1,146.10 today as speculators offloaded their positions due to low demand in the domestic markets.
Sentiment weakened further due to easy availability of potato in the physical markets following fresh arrivals from producing regions of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and West Bengal.
At the Multi Commodity exchange, potato prices for delivery in October declined by Rs 12, or 1.03%, to Rs 1,146.10 per quintal, with a business turnover of 17 lots.
March potato traded lower by Rs 6.20, or 0.81%, to Rs 753.70 per quintal in four lots.
The fall in potato futures was due to offloading of positions by speculators on sluggish spot market demand and increased arrivals, traders said.
