Potato futures prices declined by Rs 8.60 to Rs 696 per quintal today, due to subdued demand in the spot market.

In addition, increased arrivals from the producing regions in the physical market also put pressure on the potato prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May declined by Rs 8.60, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 696 per quintal, with a trade volume of just one lot.

The potato for delivery in March also traded marginally lower by 80 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 727 per quintal, with business turnover of just two lots.

Fall in potato prices was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators, which led to the fall in potato futures prices.
