Potato prices declined by Rs 10.70 to Rs 599 per quintal in futures trading today on speculators off-loading their positions on subdued demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position at the spot market following increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on the potato futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May declined by Rs 10.70, or 1.75 per cent, to Rs 599 per quintal, with a business turnover of just one lot.

The potato for delivery in April also shed Rs 5.80, or 0.92 per cent, to Rs 622 per quintal, with a open interest of a single lot.

Traders said off-loading of positions by speculators on the back of subdued spot demand, mainly pulled down potato futures prices.
