Potato prices moved down by Rs 6.50 to Rs 666.30 per quintal in futures trading today, as speculators offloaded their positions, driven by a subdued demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, potato for April fell by Rs 6.50, or 0.97 per cent, to Rs 666.30 per quintal, with an open interest of single lot.

The potato for delivery in May lost Rs 4.30, or 0.61 per cent to Rs 697.50 per quintal, with a business turnover of one lot.

Fall in potato futures prices was due to speculators, offloaded their positions, traders said.

Adequate stocks following increased arrivals from producing belts also put some pressure on potato prices, they said.
