Potato prices fell by Rs 2.10 to Rs 425.80 per quintal in futures trade today on offloading of positions by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, potato for delivery in August fell by Rs 2.10, or 0.49% to Rs 425.80 per quintal, with a business volume of 20 lots.

The potato for delivery in July also eased by Rs 2.10, or 0.44% to Rs 474.30 per quintal, with a turnover of 16 lots.

Similarly, its prices for June delivery traded lower by Rs 1.90, or 0.36% to Rs 520.20 per quintal in 45 lots.

Traders said the decline in potato prices was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators, driven by subdued demand in the spot market.
