Potato prices fell by Rs 4.70 to Rs 394.80 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions, driven by less offtake in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity exchange, potato for October delivery fell by Rs 4.70, or 1.17%, to Rs 394.80 per quintal, with a business volume of 94 lots.
The potato for August delivery eased by Rs 4.10, or 0.90%, to Rs 450.40 per quintal, with a trade turnover of 188 lots.
For September delivery, its prices traded lower by Rs 2.90, or 0.71%, to Rs 405 per quintal, with a trading volume of 237 lots. Fall in potato prices was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators following subdued demand in the spot markets, traders said.
