Potato prices fell by Rs 8.60 to Rs 518.80 per quintal in futures trade today due to sluggish demand against adequate stocks position at spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in July fell by Rs 8.60, or 1.67% to Rs 518.80 per quintal, with an open interest of a single lot.

Similarly, the potato for delivery in June declined by Rs 7.70, or 1.34% to Rs 564.80 per quintal, with a trade volume of two lots.

The potato futures prices for delivery in May lost Rs 4.90, or 0.63% to Rs 616.50 per quintal, with a business turnover of a single lot.

Market analysts said sluggish demand against adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing belts mainly put pressure on the prices.
