Potato prices fell by Rs 8.30 to Rs 594.10 per quintal on sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position at the physical market following fresh arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on potato futures prices

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May fell by Rs 8.30, or 1.38%, to Rs 594.10 per quintal, with a business turnover of two lots.

Likewise, potato for delivery in June declined by Rs 5.60, or 0.95%, to Rs 583 per quintal, with an open interest of a single lot.

Potato for delivery in April too lost Rs 3.10, or 0.50%, to Rs 614.60 per quintal, with an open interest of just one lot.

Traders said weak trend at the spot market due to sluggish demand against increased arrivals led to fall in potato futures prices.
