Potato prices traded marginally higher by Rs 1.50 to Rs 684.50 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their positions on pick-up in the spot market demand.

Less arrivals from the producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, potato for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 1.50, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 684.50 per quintal, with an open interest of just one lot.

Similarly, the potato for March-month delivery contract inched up by 50 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 666.70 per quintal, with a business turnover of just one lot.

Market analysts said increased buying by speculators on a rise in demand in the spot market helped potato futures prices to trade higher at futures trade.
