Potato prices rose by Rs 1.50 to Rs 648.70 per quintal in futures market today due to pick up in the spot market demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May gained Rs 1.50, or 0.23%, to Rs 648.70 per quintal, with a business turnover of seven lots.

The March contract edged up by 60 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 656 per quintal, with an open interest of 109 lots.

Marketmen said pick-up in spot demand against limited arrivals from producing region mainly led to the rise in potato futures prices.
