Potato prices surged by Rs 12.90, or 3.04 per cent, to Rs 437 per quintal in futures trade today on rising domestic as well as exports demand.
Restricted supply from producing regions also supported the upward march.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, potato for September surged by Rs 12.90, or 3.04 per cent, to Rs 437 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,479 lots.
Potato, which is to delivered in March also shot up by Rs 14.80, or 2.64 per cent, to Rs 575.60 per quintal, with an open interest of 390 lots.
Marketmen said speculators increased their positions on rising domestic and exports demand, against limited arrivals from the producing regions pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
