Potato futures up 1.05% as demand picks up

Potato prices rose by Rs 3.80, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 365.80 per quintal in futures trade on pick up in demand in the spot market following festive season.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, potato for September rose by Rs 3.80, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 365.80 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,056 lots.

The potato for delivery in August also edged up by Rs 2.50, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 367.10 per quintal, with a business turnover of 1,251 lots. 

Market analysts said pick up in demand in the spot market on festive season pushed up the potato prices at futures trade.
