Potato futures moved up by Rs 7.30 to Rs 647.50 per quintal today, on increased spot demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, March potato rose by Rs 7.30, or 1.14%, to Rs 647.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 312 lots.

The April contract also moved up by Rs 5.40, or 1.04%, to Rs 621.50 per quintal, with a trade volume of 71 lots.

Analysts said increased demand in the spot market against tight supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
