Potato prices weakened by Rs 1.40 to Rs 463 per quintal in futures trade today owing to slackness in demand at prevailing higher levels in the spot market against adequate stock availability.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, September delivery declined by Rs 1.40, or 0.73%, to Rs 463 per quintal with a business turnover of 451 lots.

October potato shed 20 paise, or 0.04%, to Rs 462.70 per quintal in 323 lots.

Market analysts said the adequate stocks position against subdued demand mainly led to the decline in potato futures prices.
