Potato prices rose by Rs 14.80 to Rs 1,018 per quintal in futures trade today on pick-up in spot market demand against less arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April rose by Rs 14.80, or 1.48%, to Rs 1,018 per quintal, with a business turnover of 284 lots.

The March contrace gained Rs 8.30, or 0.91%, to Rs 918 per quintal, with a business turnover of 262 lots.

Market analysts said pick-up in spot market demand against limited arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in potato prices at futures trade.
