Potato prices moved up by Rs 6.60 to Rs 1,237.10 per quintal in futures trading today as traders enlarged positions, driven by a firm trend in the spot market on pick up in demand against tight supplies.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in October rose by Rs 6.60, or 0.54%, to Rs 1,237.10 per quintal, with a business turnover of four lots.

The September contract edged up by 60 paise, or 0.05%, to Rs 1,182 per quintal in five lots.

Marketmen said increased buying by traders on the back of pick up in spot market demand against less arrivals from producing belts mainly helped potato futures to trade higher.
