Potato prices moved up by Rs 15 to Rs 665 per quintal in futures market today, as speculators enlarged their positions on rising spot market demand following the ongoing marriage season.

Limited arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May contract moved up by Rs 15 or 2.31 per cent to Rs 665 per quintal in single lot.

Potato for delivery in March month also edged up by Rs 5.20 or 0.94 per cent to Rs 646 per quintal in just one lot.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick up in demand in the spot market due to the ongoing marriage season led to the rise in potato futures prices.
