Potato prices rose marginally by 0.08% to Rs 630 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by a rise in spot market demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, March potato edged up by 50 paise, or 0.08%, to Rs 630 per quintal, with a business turnover of 17 lots.

The October contract rose by 20 paise, or 0.05%, to Rs 416.70 per quintal in 171 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by speculators following a rise in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly helped potato futures trade higher.
