Potato continued to rise for the third straight day by gaining Rs 4.40 to Rs 787 per quintal in futures trade today on speculators enlarging their positions driven by rising demand in the spot markets for the ongoing marriage season.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the March contract for potato rose by Rs 4.40, or 0.56% to Rs 787 per quintal in a business turnover of 309 lots.

The April contract edged up by Rs 2.70, or 0.34% to Rs 795.30 per quintal in 115 lots.

Analysts said increased demand in the spot market supported by ongoing marriage season mainly kept potato prices remain up at futures trade.
