Potato up 0.7% on higher demand

The potato for delivery in July also edged up by 0.14%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Potato prices rose further by Rs 5.50 to Rs 793.90 per quintal in futures market today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on pick up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in August added Rs 5.50, or 0.70%, to Rs 793.90 per quintal in business turnover of 13 lots.

The potato for delivery in July also edged up by Rs 1.20, or 0.14%, to Rs 841.60 per quintal in 20 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in potato futures to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions due to heavy rains.
