Potato futures prices today rose by 0.82% to Rs 854.80 per quintal following speculators creating fresh positions driven by increased spot demand.

Besides, restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato prices for delivery in July rose by Rs 7, or 0.82%, to Rs 854.80 per quintal, with a trading volume of 7 lots.

Potato prices for delivery in August also went up by Rs 5.10, or 0.63%, to Rs 803.70 per quintal, with a trading volume of 17 lots.

Analysts said increased demand in the spot market against tight supplies from producing regions, mainly pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
