Potato futures prices today rose by Rs 5.40 to Rs 870 per quintal, due to increased demand in view of marriage season.

Fall in arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April rose by Rs 5.40, or 0.62%, to Rs 870 per quintal in business turnover of 80 lots.

March potato gained Rs 3, or 0.36%, to Rs 826 per quintal in 299 lots.

Traders said increased demand in the spot market in view of ongoing marriage season, less arrivals from producing region mainly led to the rise in potato prices at futures market.
