Pre-market: Markets likely to open positive on global cues

Watch out for tyre shares as Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association on Wednesday urged the Rubber Board to urgently intervene to resolve supply crunch in domestic natural rubber market.

Markets are likely to open on a positive note taking cues from global bourses.

US stocks ended higher on Wednesday after declining for the past three sessions, with investors' focus on the Federal Reserve's policy statement and news conference by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke later in the day. The Dow added 56 points to 14,512. Nasdaq advanced 25 points in trade.

In Asia this morning, the NIkkei has jumped 1.2% to12,613. Seoul Composite has also moved up marginally. At 630 hrs IST the SGX Nifty is trading at 5727 - up 10 points. points.

In individual stocks, Monnet Power Company Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Monnet Ispat & Energy Ltd, hopes to commission the first 525 Mw unit of its 1050 Mw coal-based power plant in Odisha by September this year.
 
Videocon Telecommunications would start rolling out fourth-generation long-term evolution services by March 2014, using the 1800-MHz band of spectrum.
