Pre-Market: Positive opening seen on global cues

At 800 hrs Indian Standard Time the SGX Nifty was up 7 points at 5,605.

Indian stocks are likely to open higher in early trades today tracking positive Asian cues.

Meanwhile, India's industrial production contracted 2.2 percent in June, more-than-expected from a year earlier, government data showed on Monday.

Consumer price index-based inflation declined to 9.64 per cent in July from 9.87 per cent in the previous month

At 800 hrs Indian Standard Time the SGX Nifty was up 7 points at 5,605.

Overnight, U.S. stock were little changed on Monday after trimming losses, although the Nasdaq composite index rose slightly on gains by Apple and BlackBerry.

Japanese shares rose and the yen eased after a report on Tuesday said Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is considering a corporate tax cut as a way to offset the impact of a planned two-stage increase in the sales tax.
 
Tokyo's Nikkei share average climbed 1.7 percent, rebounding after it fell to its lowest since end-June following Monday's GDP data, to break above its 100-day moving average.

Back home, M&M, IOC, Oil India, Oracle Fin, Tata Steel, BPCL, Hindalco, Pidilite are set to unveil April-June 2013 quarter results today.

STOCKS TO WATCH

State Bank of India posted its second consecutive drop in quarterly profit on provisioning for losses in its overseas treasury book and a sharp rise in employee pensions.

Four Soft Limited has agreed to sell its software solutions business to Transport IT Solutions Private Limited, a part of UK-based Kewill Group, for a little over $43 million.

Muthoot Finance has filed the draft prospectus with market regulator Sebi for public issuance of secured non-convertible debentures (NCDs) of up to Rs 300 crore.

Acacia II Partners LP on Monday picked up more than three lakh shares of non-banking finance company Bajaj Finance for Rs 33 crore.

SpiceJet is expected to order close to 50 Airbus 320s and make a transition from all  Boieng to all Airbus fleet, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation has said in its latest report.
