The government is launching a national project on organic farming to encourage the production of chemicals-free food products in environment-friendly manner.
A national institute of organic farming will be set up as part of this project to undertake research and development activities for organic farming. This institute would have seven sub-centres.
This was announced by agriculture minister Ajit Singh today in the meeting of the parliamentary consultative committee attached to his ministry. He said a special thrust was proposed to be given to market development and quality regulation of organically produced products.
