Hindustan Construction (HCC) closed at a 52-week high of Rs 140.10, up by 20 per cent, its upper circuit. More than 3.70 lakh shares were traded on the BSE.
The counter attracted huge buying interest in sync with most other construction companies that saw their prices surge on the bourses.
Players attribute this to anticipation of a rise in housing development and infrastructure activities. Marketmen suggest that funds and institutions are buying into the counter.
