It was a volatile trading session; key benchmark indices pared early gains in late trades as investors turned cautious and booked profits at higher levels in heavyweights.
After a positive start benchmark indices remained choppy on Friday and closed flat led by selling in banks, auto and metal shares.
At 03:32 PM, the 30-share Sensex closed at 20,265 up 36 points at 20,266 and the 50-share Nifty was up 12 points at 6,011 levels.
Broader markets too came under selling pressure as BSE mid-caps and small-caps closed 0.1% lower.
