Quiet week for fund managers

It was yet another down week for our markets as global cues were largely negative throughout the week. The benchmark BSE 200 index ended with a loss of 1.6 per cent last week and is now down almost 38 per cent since the inception of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008. The Rs 10 lakh BSE 200 portfolio dropped to Rs 6.21 lakh as against Rs 6.31 lakh the week before.

Our fund managers saw minuscule changes in their net asset values, thanks mainly to the Friday rally coupled with lack of trading activity. Amar Ambani s net worth rose by 0.1 per cent to Rs 9.95 lakh in a week. On the other hand, Anand Agarwal, Kashyap Pujara and Sadanand Shetty saw their portfolio value depreciate between 0.24 per cent and 0.6 per cent.

Three Smart Portfolios fund mangers remained largely on the sidelines last week. Anand Agarwal was the sole active participant with three trades, two on the buy side and one on the sell side.
