Rain in north hits sunflower crop

"Untimely rains are likely to damage 30-40 per cent of the early maturing sunflower variety," said K K Goyal, a Delhi-based edible oil trader.

This negative news on the crop pushed up prices of the premium edible oil source in the spot markets today.

In the Mumbai spot market, crude sunflower oil quoted Rs 15 higher at Rs 640 per 10 kg, while the refined oil variety was up Rs 20 at Rs 680.
