Ranbaxy, Reliance, Itc Gain

The Instanex Skindia DR Index (ISDI), which represents the ADRs and GDRs of 15 actively-traded companies, increased by 1.25 per cent to 704.02 on August 28, 2003.

Among Indian global depository receipts, there were four gainers and three losers.

Among the gainers, Ranbaxy was up 1.61 per cent at $22.10, registering volumes of 105,275 GDRs. ITC gained 1.33 per cent to $19, and Reliance added 0.83 per cent to $18.15. Up to 15,240 Reliance GDRs were traded today.

Tata Engineering was heavily traded in the morning session, registering volumes of around 5,59,830 GDRs.

On Wednesday, among Indian American Depository Receipts, technology majors like Wipro surged 6.83 per cent to $24.40, Infosys gained 4.24 per cent to $56.30 and Satyam Computers was up 3.76 per cent to $11.59.

 

However, telecom stocks such as VSNL dropped 1.53 per cent to $5.14 and MTNL fell 1.06 per cent to $5.60.

The ISDI rose sharply by 2.25 per cent to 704.09 on Wednesday, as against its previous close of 688.61, an Instanex Capital release said.

The ISDI P/E ratio also shot up by 2.20 per cent to 13.43, compared to 13.14 previously.

Among the Indian ADRs and GDRs, there were 15 gainers and five losers, while 52 others ruled steady.

The ADRs of ICICI Bank and Rediff.Com quoted strong to $9.90 and $5.05 respectively, as against $9.30 and $4.80 previously.

However, the ADR of Satyam Infoway declined to $5.49, from $5.56 previously.
